About Us

The Dixie Jr. Bassmasters is centered in Fayette, Alabama and is made up of thirty members (ages 5-18) at present with members being from Cullman to Mississippi to Sulligent to Demopolis to Fayette. Thirty members is the maximum allowed for this club. This is a B.A.S.S. club sponsored by the Fayette Bass Club and a TBF/FLW club sponsored by the Frog Level Bassmasters. These guys and girls participate every year in two State Tournaments which provides them the opportunity to fish the Bassmaster Classic Jr. World Championship and the FLW National Guard Jr. World Championship with no entry fees and minimal expense to their parents. It's really a great opportunity! We have been in existence for only three years with seven of these young men quaifying for a Jr. World Championship! Look out KVD! :) They also fish their own club tournaments competitively for bragging rights and Angler of the Year standings. Angler of the Year is presented each December at our annual Christmas party!

Membership for the Dixie Jr. Bassmasters is $30.00 per year which includes a club t-shirt and other benefits. Entry fee for the club tournaments is $10.00 per person and $5.00 for big fish. Entry money goes toward trophies and to the club fund while the child with the biggest fish keeps the big fish pot. Club tournaments are buddy tournaments and each member may fish with a guest but that guest may only fish one tournament without being a member.
Each child MUST fish in a boat with a boat captain either by himself or his buddy. Boat Captains are generally Fayette Bass Club or Frog Level Bassmasters members or parents and grandparents of the Jr. club members.

Our purpose is to improve our skills as anglers through a fellowship of sportsmanship and friendly exchange of fishing techniques and ideas, to promote youth fishing, and a love for this great recreation. Also, to learn responsibility and teamwork by operating the club where its direction and activities are decided by its membership in a democratic manner, with only guidance and advice from its Senior Advisor and parents. Our desire is to fulfill all responsibilities we owe to our community, our state, and our society to help maintain natural fishing resources.
